Eliot Spitzers Fall From Kristen

How does one go from being the top dog in New York to being a afterthought in the public eye, you do this when you get caught in the middle of a high priced prostitution ring. Two weeks ago, NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer stepped down amongst an investigation that he had paid thousands of dollars to a high priced Call Girl. Ah yes another story of a politician being caught with his pants down, at least this one was a female. Speaking of the former New Jersey Governor, an aide to Jim McGreevy claims that him and the McGreevy’s participated in threesomes during their engagement and long after they were married. Why is it the media always has to make a big production out of every politician that is caught in some sort of lewd behavior? The things that former Gov. Spitzer did take place several thousand times every year, the only difference is that nobody cares about it happening to everyday people. Looking back to ZipperGate as it has affectionately been referred to I mean for goodness sakes the man received a blowjob, I for one want the man that controls whether or not we go to war to be as relaxed as humanly possible. Maybe if Laura had done this more to George W we would not be in Iraq five years later. Men are going to have their extra marital affairs it’s what they do, now granted Spitzer spending $80,000 on a call girl might have been a little overboard, one of two things either this girl as one hell of a lay or he was one hell of a horny guy. That seems to be the curse of the male species we have a tendency to sometimes think with the wrong head. Just when we thought all of the sexual escapades had come to their end in New York, the day after being sworn in the new NY Governor revealed that both him and his wife had affairs including one involving a state employee during what he called a “rough time.” Now here is where the readers will probably stray away from agreeing with me all of these sex scandals should have never resulted in the politician giving up their office. Going back to the earlier comment involving Bill Clinton him receiving oral sex while in the oval office did not in any way interfere with his ability to lead this country. I can promise you that if it was revealed that the head of NBC was having an affair with his secretary, he would not be forced to resign his position the absolute worse that would happen is that he would probably receive a reprimand from the Board of Directors and his wife would kick him out of the house. So why are we so fixated on ruining politicians careers just for a lapse of judgment, yet everyday citizens get a free pass to make the same bad decisions? The reason for this is simple people love to the people in high positions come crashing down to earth like a dead U.S spy satellite. Turn on the television on any given night and you will see some reality show about a celebrity in rehab or trying to get into shape. So when a politician is found to have had sexual relations with someone other than their wife we are quick to give him the thumbs down as if we are still in ancient Rome during the days of the battles in the Coliseum. Our society is fixated with sex, just do a goggle search and you will see what I mean. So regardless if a politician is caught fondling a woman’s breast or caught paying $80,000 to a “call girl” before we demand his blood be spilled let us take a look at the overall job that he has done, for there might be a worse replacement waiting in the wings.
