Over the last few days there have been teasers promising something big called the CFL. For those who have not heard, the CFL stands for the Cactus Football League, and it promises to NOT be your friend’s typical fantasy football league.
Here are the basics: The league will consist of 20 teams with the first team reserved for the staff of the cactus. The early birds will get the worms or in this case the teams. Next season, we hope to expand to include more teams.
There will be a draft held on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 7 p.m. EST. The draft will be held on a Web site currently being built and promises to be more fun than any other draft on the web. All teams need to be registered by 5 p.m., Friday, July 25 to give time to set them up. To register your team submit your team information to me jim.montana(at)hotmail.com. The sooner you enter, the better your position in the draft. I will have more details in the coming days.
In addition to the CFL, we are proud to announce a new contest titled Fan of the Week, where readers can submit pictures of their devotion to their favorite football team, college or professional. Winners of the FOW will compete at the end of the month for Fan of Month with all Fan of Month winners eligible for a Fan of Year honor. The winner receiving a special prize.
There are plenty of new things coming to the sports department with other changes being implemented in the next few weeks.
